In April this year, we were thrilled to win the Queen’s Award for International Trade, in recognition of our exporting achievements.
On 28th November, we were delighted to welcome palace representative and the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Dame Hilary Chapman to our premises. As Dame Hilary presented our award in a short ceremony, she commented on the importance of ICD Europe’s growth and our impact on the local economy. She then took a tour of our newly extended Vantage Park facility. William Beckett, Chairman of the International Trade Forum also attended the event and joined the site tour.
The formal proceedings were followed by a company-wide celebration for staff, which included a hog roast and coffee van, with all refreshments sourced from local small businesses. Members of the ICD team were also presented with an engraved glass as a memento of their achievements.
Established in 1965, the Queen’s Awards are the highest official UK awards for British businesses. Granted annually on the Queen’s birthday, the awards recognise the ‘highest levels of excellence’ and ‘outstanding achievement’ in UK business. Winners of the International Trade category must display three consecutive years of export sales growth.
Winners of the awards, which are valid for five years, may fly the Queen’s Awards flag at their main premises and use the awards logo on their marketing materials.
This year, 232 businesses representing every part of the United Kingdom and a range of sectors were recognised by Her Majesty The Queen. It was an excellent year for Yorkshire businesses, with a total of 22 accolades being given to firms in the region.

‘We all feel incredibly honoured to have been recognised in the Queen’s Awards this year, and we are proud and saddened in equal measure to have been among the last recipients during her lifetime.
